Beaches in Messinia

Voidokoilia is definitely the most popular beach in Messinia, and definitely considered one of the most beautiful of the Mediterranean area. In the shape of the Greek letter omega (Ω), its fine sand forms a gulf within which are captured its crystal clear waters. This beach has been named “A Place of Particular Natural Beauty”. Above the beach we find Nestor’s Cave and above this is Palaiokastro from which the view is unique. On the right of the gulf is the tomb of Nestor’s son, Thrasimidis.

One of the best hiking routes begins from Voidokoilia. The climb towards Nestor’s Cave begins where the beach ends, while after the Cave the route continues towards Palaiokastro from which the view is worth seeing.
